How to check if a company has a sponsor licence

    1. Search the company here, or open the register on gov.uk.
    2. Match the exact registered name and the town. The register lists legal names, which can differ from the brand on a job advert.
    3. Read the route and the rating. To sponsor a Skilled Worker visa, the employer needs the route "Skilled Worker", and an A rating to take on new workers.

    Questions about the register

What is the register of licensed sponsors?

It is the Home Office list of every organisation allowed to sponsor workers on visas such as the Skilled Worker visa. It is published on gov.uk and updated most working days. This checker uses the copy published on 5 October 2026.

Does a licence mean they will sponsor me?

A licence means they can sponsor. It is not a promise that they will. Visavi shows you the evidence per job.

What if a company is not on the register?

The register changes often and lists legal names, which can differ from a brand name. Check the latest register on gov.uk before you rule an employer out. Check the spelling, and try the company's legal name: the register lists legal names, which can differ from brand names.

What do the A and B ratings mean?

Most sponsors hold an A rating. A B rating means the Home Office has asked the employer to fix how it manages sponsorship, and a B-rated sponsor generally cannot sponsor new workers until it is back to an A rating. Always check gov.uk for the current rules.
